This is a study of ambiguity (multiple meanings), conducted at the University of Washington. I'm Jonathan Robert Pool, and I'm investigating how people interpret ambiguous statements and how they can best clarify the meanings of such statements. I hope to apply the results to the development of methods for better human-human and human-computer communication.
You are eligible to participate if you can read and write English.
I am conducting the study on the Web. You can participate anywhere, using a Web browser.
Now! The study will end on Wednesday, 25 April 2007, at 18:00 (6:00 p.m.), Pacific Daylight Time (26 April 2007, 01:00 UTC).
I estimate that your participation will last 20-30 minutes, but you will be allowed 90 minutes to finish.
By participating, you will contribute to knowledge about communication and understanding. You may also learn things about ambiguity in language.
